Australia is home to one of the world's most iconic natural landmarks - Uluru, or Ayers Rock. Located in the heart of the Australian Outback, this large sandstone monolith is a sight to behold. It stands 348 metres high, with a circumference of 9.4 kilometres and a total area of 3.3 square kilometres.

 

Uluru is of great significance to the local Aboriginal people and is sacred to them. It is believed to be around 600 million years old, and is a major tourist attraction. It is best seen from a distance as people are asked not to climb it, due to its spiritual significance.

 

Visitors can explore the base of Uluru and learn about the local traditional stories, culture and history from the knowledgeable guides. There are also several walking trails around the base, which offer spectacular views of the rock.

 

Kakadu National Park

Kakadu National Park is located in the Northern Territory and is Australia's largest national park.
